Phew....

Candles in vintage glassware
Well the time is here to attempt to sell my wares! I am now installed at Aberdeen Antique Centre . Official opening from 1st September. I intend to add new and unique items every week.  The centre is a treasure trove of antique furniture, jewellery, ornaments and great vintage finds. I dare you to visit and NOT say "Oh, we used to have one just like that..."! Kate and Alan are there daily to guide and advise should you need any help. I will have some photos of of my booth and of some furniture you won't have seen yet! Exciting stuff!

Old Time Glamour..

..is how I describe these pieces.  A vintage three-quarter standard lamp base, which I painted gold then made a tall drum shade with gold fringing.  The height and shape of the shade gives the lamp a more contemporary look. In my (very big) book Gold = Glamour!  The mirror was vintage style but is actually only about 10 years old. The silver had been slightly damaged, which I quite like but I decided to help it on it's way by removing more!  It's a very imperfect science and the result can be a bit unpredictable. Once de-silvered I used the same fabric as on the shade to back the mirror.  The result is a nice pair of glamourous ReVamps!

What a Sew and Sew...

Some soft stuff to feast your eyes upon.  These fab feathered cushion covers are made from a vintage curtain (you will see the fabric crop up on other ReVamps I'm sure!!).  The feather trim adds a touch of glamour to the lovely pale yellow satin fabric.

These two cushions were made from fabric remnants which I thought really complimented the upholstery fabric and dark wood on the Charleston chair.
This cover is also made from fabric remnants.  My first attempt at making piping, turned out okay I thought!!  I was experimenting with pleating but that didn't turn out particularly great.  It's all a learning curve!

If you want any information on the fabrics, paints or trims I have used in any of my ReVamps please email me or post a message and I will be very happy to  help.

Elegant & Lovely...

Charleston, elegant and dashing!
That is how I would describe this beautiful chair. ReVamp name....Charleston. I had already recovered this 1950's chair but I had never been entirely happy with the overall look, so a.. (new verb alert) Re-ReVamp was called for! It has an elegant Art Deco style which suits this lovely Villa Nova fabric.  I plan to have a lumbar cushion in contrasting fabric to finish off the look.

Quick update.........

Been busy with smaller projects, making lampshades, tags, sanding, priming, painting.........and on it goes! This is a pic of my "work table" this afternoon.  Those keen eyed observers may notice many craft tools related to many disciplines.  This is the evidence of a ReVamper.  We have many mysterious tools, pins, papers, paints, adhesives, threads, fabrics, oh the list is infinite (as is my husbands patience). The true evidence of any ReVamper is the.............BOOKS.  We can't help it. We love to read about designers, decorators, artists, antiques, colour, display, sex, murder....well maybe not the last two. That's just me!  A ReVamper loves anything that stimulates creativity with an eye on using what's available. Old and New, New and Old.   It's the future!

To be Frank....

This is "Francois" or Frank as we know him!  He has dellusions of grandeur and a mixed-up personality, a 1970's melamine chest of drawers ReVamped  with ticking & toile. He has even had a transplant from brown castors to silver curved legs! He's strange and certainly unique!

Light of my Life....

No, not my husband or kids but this bright thing! And yes, I know you have seen the shade already but she has to be viewed in all her splendidness on a stand. This was a heavily painted, turned wood standard lamp stand.  I lightly sanded it , primed and re-painted.  I kinda like it with old dents & chips still visible under the new paint.  I don't want my pieces to look "shiny-new" just updated & ReVamped! The shade was my own creation, over a couple of nights!

Little Miss Show-Off

Little Miss Show-Off
Yay! I managed to stay off the wine (see previous post, I'm not alcoholic!) long enough to finish that tricky lampshade. It's 45cm diameter, the biggest I've made (so far!). Just applied flowers to make it a very individual piece, as all my ReVamps are!!  Will post pic tomorrow of the whole lamp. Can I have a glass of Cabernet now please...........?

Advice....

Don't attempt to make lampshades when a.) Tired  and b.) Had 2 glasses of Pinot Grigio. End result = shade not wide enough and ring mount wrong way up aaaaaaaarghhhh.......!!!

Me, in action as I ReVamp a 1970's melamine chest of drawers. Keep checking in for the final outcome, it should be interesting!
p.s. I don't usually dress to co-ordinate with my ReVampees!

Et Voila! Coco

Coco

This 1960's French-style boudoir stool by Crest Art Ltd of London looked in pretty good condition but on further inspection............  The base was broken and had been braced with a piece of plywood, also once I started stripping the fabric it was apparent that this stool had been a heavy smoker!   There was nothing else for it but a complete ReVamp.  New cushion base, new foam, new fabric, new button. I used a lovely chocolate velvet from Harlequin with a deep bullion fringe and Coco was born!  She would look fabulous back in someone's boudoir....!
Coco has a lovely deep buttoned top

Before ReVamp, pink velour, yuck!

Meet Fifi!

Fifi was un-named, unloved, wearing brown dralon fabric and living in a barn. Now she's been ReVamped and she's dressed in a beautiful black & white toile de jouy! She's not perfect but looks great.
